What others have to say about Camp.
Mountain Majesty on South Twin Lake has become our favorite destination in the North Maine Woods. We are from southern Maine and previously had a family camp on Square Pond. Upon our arrival to "camp", (Camp to those who are from Maine, a Lake House to those fancy folk, and a Cabin to those who want to be rustic) we were taken aback by the mesmerizing views of Katahdin and tranquil surroundings of South Twin. The wilderness that surrounds you here makes you feel like you are on another planet. Every time we arrive, we feel we have driven four hours north into another universe, a peaceful one.The inside of the camp is beautiful and unique, offering two large family bedrooms each with their own bathroom. The porch is full of windows looking right out over Katahdin and the lake. The views are stunning. We also as a family appreciated that from the kitchen window you can see the beach area and lake as well. It is very easy to keep an eye on the beach area while cooking dinner/breakfast. Kitchen area is also open concept into the living room so you are never missing out on the fun if you are cooking. The couches/beds are comfortable and there is plenty of room for the entire family to hang out inside on a rainy day, with board games to boot. The camps outdoor surrounding is super private, there are neighbors on the left who are very kind but you can hardly see their property. The camp its self is a double lot, so there are no neighbors on one side creating lots of privacy on the sandy beach. The sand extends all the way out deep into lake, this is so fun for our whole family to enjoy swimming. From the dock we caught a bunch of fish, especially on the sunny mornings the kids had a blast catching sunfish left and right, but be warned be prepared for a surprise big bite from a salmon, trout or pickerel. The dock views are incredible, of the mountain and water creatures. Many large loons, ducks, and even a few river otters from time to time. When we are at camp we enjoy the grill, having camp fires and relaxing on the dock. The stargazing is unimaginable. We saw the northern lights twice up there as well, behind the mountain. A memory we will never forget. Not only is the camp it's self amazing but also all the outdoor enthusiast opportunity that is so close. We have enjoyed hiking in Baxter at the blueberry ledges (natural waterfalls), Katahdin Iron Works (Gulf Hagas), and even white water rafting in the river. On nights we did not felt like cooking we popped into town. Incredibly surprised by the yummy food we encountered in Millinocket. The Sawmill had great grub, as well as Knife Edge Brewing which is closer to the park. On our way to the camp we stopped in Milo to the Bissel Brothers Three Rivers location, talk about delicious food and friendly people. Our pup made it on their Instagram!Highly Recommend for a family vacation, it can be as relaxing or as active as you'd like! 10/10 Recommend!Ashley C. 2024
